Get continuous insights into your business’s incoming and outgoing cash flow.

Our new Cash Insights tool shows you exactly how much money is entering and leaving your business on a daily basis—and why. You’ll get current cash updates, contextual insights, and trend charts inside Relay, so you can make more strategic decisions more efficiently.

Understanding your cash position shouldn’t take so much work

Most business owners piece together their cash position manually, pulling bank statements and updating spreadsheets to identify patterns and flag potential issues. But by the time you have a complete picture of your cash flow, the numbers are already out of date.

Dedicating hours to manual cash reconciliation every week is tedious, and eats into the time you could spend planning for growth or interfacing with customers. Plus, the numbers you crunch only offer one (pretty narrow) view of your business’s financial health.

You have the numbers, but not the story behind them

Your balance shows you how much money you have, but it doesn’t provide context for the figure, nor does it explain patterns and anomalies. If your cash flow looks off, whether it’s an isolated incident or a recurring issue, you usually have to dig through multiple files to figure out why.

To understand your cash fluctuations and accurately assess what is and isn’t working, you need insights alongside your data.

Point-in-time reporting doesn’t equal cash visibility

Periodic snapshots of your finances don’t get you very far. Cash flow summaries can be useful, but you shouldn’t rely on them as your single source of truth for spending or budgeting decisions.

Because when you’re primarily reviewing month-end reports and account statements, you’re learning from what happened—instead of reacting to what’s happening.

And when you’re always looking back, you end up using mental math and disconnected spreadsheets to fill in the gaps. As a result, it’s easier for surprises like missed payments and unexpected outflows to go undetected until they compound.

Why we created Cash Insights

Business owners need cash clarity built into their daily workflow, not added to it. Manual cash reconciliation and static reporting tools hold your business back, taking up valuable hours and limiting your cash visibility.

Enter: Cash Insights. You’ll get a continuous, contextual view of your inflows, outflows, and net cash flowing through your business.

What Cash Insights offers

Here’s what you can expect:

1. See money in, money out, and net cash

You don’t have to update a spreadsheet to get an accurate picture of your cash flow. With Cash Insights, you’ll see money in, money out, and net cash totals updated continuously. You can also filter by individual account or date range to see a cash picture for a specific window of time.

Having a single, comprehensive picture of your cash provides peace of mind, prevents cash crunches, and speeds up decision-making. Check Relay first thing every morning so you know exactly where your business stands, or log on to view your cash status before making a big purchase.

2. Drill into what’s driving the numbers

Cash Insights gives you the nitty-gritty details behind the numbers. Click any metric to see the underlying transactions behind it, switch from high-level summaries to individual transactions, or toggle internal transfers in or out to trace your cash’s movement.

If you notice unusual cash spikes or drops, you can dig into the transactions to discover the cause fast, then decide how to respond. Or if you want to see whether your business is growing or plateauing, you can compare net cash in custom time periods.

3. Spot trends before they turn into problems

When you have a deep, up-to-date understanding of your business’s strengths and weak spots, you can make strategic decisions when they count the most. Cash Insights provides that deeper look, highlighting patterns in your inflows and outflows and turning trends into easy-to-read charts.

With a clear view of how money flows through your business, you’ll be able to identify positive momentum early, anticipate slow periods, or get ahead of problems before they grow.
