    Cash Flow Management

From your first dollar to your first million, Relay’s new plans give you the right banking and software solutions to get from break even to sustainable profit.

Bring all your financial workflows into Relay—including expense management, bill payments, invoicing, and more—for an all-in-one money management solution that gets you off the cash flow tightrope for good.

Relay is a financial technology company and is not a bank. Banking services provided by Thread Bank². Member FDIC.

Today, we're launching new plans and pricing that are designed for each stage of your cash flow journey, along with exciting accounts payable features to create, approve, categorize, and pay your bills.

Core banking services at Relay will remain the same; however, our new plans deliver powerful financial software that grows with your business—helping you gain clarity, control, and ultimately, greater profitability.

At Relay, we set out to solve a fundamental problem: traditional banking isn’t always built for small businesses and may not help them stay on the money.

But as we've grown alongside our customers, we've learned that banking alone isn't enough. The real challenge for small business owners goes beyond a place to store and organize cash—it's managing the constant flow of funds in and out while trying to build sustainable profit.

That's why we're evolving from a banking platform to an all-in-one money management platform that eliminates the need for multiple disconnected tools and all their expensive individual fees.

Our new plans reflect this evolution, bundling the right banking, financial software, perks, and partnerships for each stage of your cash flow journey. Introducing:

  • The Starter plan for a banking solution with no monthly fees, and core financial workflows

    • Perfect for: Solopreneurs and new business owners

    • Who care about: Building a great foundation for cash flow clarity and breaking even

    • Includes: Multiple checking and savings accounts, cards, receipt and expense management, payment processing, and accounting integrations

  • The Grow plan for advanced financial workflows and customization

    • Perfect for: Growing businesses with small teams

    • Who care about: Achieving consistent profit, without losing control of team spending

    • Includes: Everything in Starter, plus advanced features to manage every detail of your cash flow, including approval workflows, split line-item categorization, and customizable bookkeeping rules

    • And: Better APY, cash back, and reduced fees on incoming and outgoing payments

  • The Scale plan for more automation and financial insights

    • Perfect for: Bigger teams with six figures in annual revenue

    • Who care about: Hitting peak profit by maximizing margins and improving financial decision-making

    • Includes: Everything in Grow, plus AI-powered automation, dashboards, and real-time insights

    • And: The best APY, cash back, and payment fees we offer, exclusive partnership perks, and skip-the-line support

We’re excited to share these new features, which represent our ongoing commitment to supporting small businesses throughout their profit journey. With the right financial tools at the right time, entrepreneurs can build resilient businesses that thrive, not just survive.

The cash flow journey: from starting out to scaling up

Our recent Cash Flow Compass report revealed a startling reality: 91% of business owners report having cash flow issues and 66% say that financial challenges cause persistent stress and anxiety.

Behind these statistics are real people—entrepreneurs who started businesses with passion and purpose, now spending sleepless nights worrying about paying employees and overdue bills.

Let’s follow the cash flow journey of a landscaping business that started with one creative entrepreneur, a passion for gardening, and a pickup truck.

The Starter plan

Banking with no monthly subscription fees, plus core financial workflows for solopreneurs and new businesses

A woman gardening. There is text over her that shows a screen with a get started button in green, showing the Starter plan at $0/month.

In the beginning, just keeping the lights on consumes every waking moment. Our new landscaping business owner works 60-hour weeks, handling everything from client calls to equipment maintenance to bill payments.

Every dollar matters. Bank fees, accounting mistakes, and missing receipts aren't just inconveniences—they’re threats to survival. Breaking even isn’t just a goal; it’s an everyday battle to make enough to pay themselves.

Designed for solopreneurs and new business owners, Starter provides essential cash flow tools and total clarity without adding monthly costs at a time when every dollar counts.

For $0/monthly subscription fee, Starter includes:

  • Organized banking: Up to 20 checking accounts to organize operating expenses, and 2 savings accounts with 0.91% APY.¹

  • Controlled spending: Cards with customizable limits and controls to stop overspending before it happens (plus 1% cash back* on credit card purchases for eligible businesses)

  • Audit-ready expenses: Receipt collection and transaction auto-matching ensure there’s never a scramble for missing documentation at audit time

  • Bill management: Upload and email bills to Relay to get crystal-clear on payables and make sure every bill gets paid on time.

  • Secure payment collection: Eliminate the need for an invoicing tool by accepting client payments via credit or debit card, pay-by-bank, ACH, and wire

  • Accounting integration: Sync ultra-detailed and categorized transaction data, receipts, and bills to QuickBooks Online or Xero to close the books in record time

  • Manageable Transaction Fees:

    • Same-day ACH fee: $5

    • Outgoing domestic wire fee: $8

    • Outgoing international wire fee: $5 (Local Network), $25 (SWIFT Network)

    • Payment processing fee for incoming pay-by-bank transactions: 1% of transaction amount

    • Fee per incoming wires received via Payment Requests: $5

The Grow plan

Advanced financial workflows for small teams

Two female gardeners rolling out turf. There is a snippet of a pricing screen with Grow $30/month on the screen.

At this stage, the landscaping business has grown steadily. The business has repeat customers and a team of 4. They’re no longer just surviving—they’re building something meaningful.

With all this success, everyday cash flow has become more complicated. The business owner needs help with the bills and keeping track of team spending, but they don’t want to give up control completely.

The Grow plan is built to help small business owners walk the cash flow tightrope with ease as they become more removed from day-to-day spending.

For $30/monthly subscription fee, Grow includes everything in Starter, plus:

Advanced bills and expenses:

  • Approval rules that give the business owner the final say on every bill paid by a team member

  • Customizable bookkeeping automations for hands-free, meticulously accurate financial records

  • Scrupulous tracking of team spending thanks to split line-item categorization for bills and receipts

Higher rates and rewards:

  • 1.55% APY¹ on savings accounts

  • 1.25% cash back* on credit card purchases

  • 0.75% of transaction amount fee on incoming pay-by-bank payments (reduced from 1% in Starter)

Savings on outgoing payments:

  • Same-day ACH: $3 (reduced from $5)

  • Outgoing domestic wires: $5 (reduced from $8)

  • Outgoing international wires:

    • $3 Local Network wires (reduced from $5)

    • $22 Swift Network wires (reduced from $25)

Other transaction fees:

  • Fee per incoming wire received via Payment Requests: $5

Coming soon:

  • Branded and recurring invoices to level up and automate collections

  • The flexibility to pay bills in installments to control outgoing cashflow

The Scale plan

AI-powered automation and insights to maximize profit

Three gardeners loading up a truck with plants. There is a product image on top with a pricing page, showing a title Scale and the price of $90/month

Finally, the landscaping business has reached a huge milestone: $1 million in annual revenue. It takes enormous grit and discipline to get a business to this level and beyond; in fact, only 5% of businesses in the U.S. ever make it here.

At this stage, time becomes the scarcest resource. The business owner needs automation that saves precious hours and insights to help maximize margin.

The Scale plan addresses the fundamental challenge of the million-dollar business owner: maintaining financial control while freeing up time to focus on strategic growth. While we’re still developing the advanced features in the Scale plan, we’re introducing it now to share our long-term vision. We want to give forward-thinking businesses the opportunity to access the best APY, cash back rates, and discounted outgoing payment fees, and to secure early adopter pricing.

For a limited time, get Scale for just $90/monthly subscription fee (regularly $120). Scale includes all features in the Grow plan, plus:

  • 50 checking accounts for meticulous organization

  • Skip-the-line customer support for faster access to the help you need

The best rates and rewards:

  • 2.68% APY¹ on savings accounts

  • 1.5% cash back* on credit card purchases

  • 0.5% of transaction amount fee on incoming pay-by-bank payments (our lowest rate)

The lowest outgoing payment fees:

  • 10 free same-day ACH transfers monthly ($1/ACH thereafter)

  • Reduced domestic wire fees: $5 (reduced from $8 in Starter)

  • Lower outgoing international wires:

    • $1.50 Local Network wires (reduced from $5)

    • $20 Swift Network wires (reduced from $25)

Other transaction fees:

  • Fee per incoming wire received via Payment Requests: $5

Exclusive partnership perks:

  • 6 months free for new Xero customers

    • After the 6-month promotional period, Xero will directly bill for their services

  • Up to $1,000 cash back on travel bookings with Engine (with bookings of $2,500 or greater)

Advanced automation and controls (coming soon):

  • A bills dashboard to reveal spending trends at a glance

  • Advanced spend controls that prevent unwanted spend before it happens

  • Streamlined bulk payments for bills, payouts, or payroll

  • The ability to pass on card processing fees to clients who prefer paying by card

  • Time-saving customizable CSV exports to share with accountants and bookkeepers

What the new plans mean for current Relay customers

We know that change can sometimes feel disruptive, especially when it involves something as important as your business banking. That's why we want to be completely transparent about what these new plans mean for you as a valued Relay customer.

If you're currently using Relay, here's what to expect:

  • Relay Standard users: On May 30, 2025 you'll be automatically migrated to our new Starter plan. The good news? There are still no monthly subscription fees or minimum balance requirements. You’ll keep all the features you currently use and gain access to some new ones, including core expenses, bills, and invoicing workflows.

  • Relay Pro users: On June 30, 2025, you'll be automatically migrated to our new Grow plan. This plan has been specifically designed to include all your favorite Pro features while adding advanced functionality to your expenses, bills, and invoicing workflows.

Changes to rates, rewards, and fees

As part of our new approach, we're evolving how we structure our rates and rewards. Going forward, higher plans bring better APY rates on savings, increased cash back percentages on credit card purchases, and, in some cases, reduced payment processing fees dependent on the subscription plan.

APY on your savings accounts

What’s changing: Each plan will offer a standardized APY rate that applies to all your savings accounts balances, regardless of how much cash you’re holding.

A table showing the different in APY for Start Plan (1.03%), Grow (1.75%), and Scale (3.03%)

Cash back on credit cards

What’s changing: Each plan will offer a standardized cash back rate on credit card purchases, regardless of how much you spend.

Payment processing fees

What’s changing: Incoming and outgoing payment processing fees will be discounted by plan.

FAQs

When will these changes take effect?

  • For new customers: The new plans will be available starting April 29, 2025.

  • For existing Standard users: You will be migrated to the Starter plan on May 30, 2025.

  • For existing Pro users: You will be migrated to the Grow plan on June 30, 2025.

We’ll migrate you automatically on the appropriate date, but you can choose to opt-in earlier if you prefer.

Will I lose any software I currently use?

No. We've designed the new plans to ensure all existing customers maintain access to the software features they currently rely on. In fact, you'll gain access to several new capabilities with the transition.

Can I switch between plans after the transition?

Absolutely. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time through your account settings.

How do the new plans compare to Relay's current offerings?

  • The Starter plan replaces our current Standard plan with additional features.

  • The Grow plan enhances our current Pro plan with new capabilities for growing businesses.

  • The Scale plan is brand new, designed specifically for businesses with $1M+ in revenue that need more advanced features.

Will this change my monthly cost?

  • If you're currently on our Standard plan, you'll move to the Starter plan which remains a $0/monthly subscription fee

  • If you're currently on our Pro plan, you'll move to the Grow plan at the same monthly rate.

  • If you currently have an active discount, it will remain the same.

While your monthly subscription cost remains the same, there will be some adjustments to per-transaction fees for certain payment types. For example, same-day ACH and wire transfers will have updated pricing in the new plan structure. We've carefully balanced these changes by adding new value through enhanced features and perks that can help offset these adjustments for most customers.

For a detailed comparison of the specific transaction fees, please visit our pricing page where you can see exactly how each payment type is priced across plans.

What if I need help deciding which plan is right for my business?

Our support team is available to provide personalized guidance about which plan best fits your business needs. They can walk you through specific features, answer questions about the transition, and help you make the right choice for your situation.
