If your business structure has changed since you opened your Relay Account — or if the wrong entity type was selected during your application — our Customer Experience team may be able to update it for you.
Which entity types can be updated?
We can support changes between the following entity types:
LLCs
Corporations
Partnerships
For example, if your business converted from an LLC to a Corporation, we can update your account to reflect that.
What you'll need to send us
To update your entity type, contact our Customer Experience team and have the following ready:
Updated Secretary of State evidence, such as a Certificate of Conversion or a similar filing
Updated formation documents, such as your charter or Articles of Incorporation/Organization
An updated EIN or W-9, if your tax identification changed
Sending everything at once helps us review your request faster.
Which changes can't be made?
Relay is unable to switch an account to or from a Sole Proprietorship.
Sole proprietorships answer a different set of application questions than LLCs, corporations, and other entity types, so the account can't be converted after approval. If your business has changed to or from a sole proprietorship, you'll need to open a new Relay Account with the correct entity type.
Some other entity type combinations also can't be supported. If you're not sure whether your change is possible, reach out to our Customer Experience team and we'll confirm before you gather documents.
How do I start the request?
Contact our Customer Experience team with your updated documentation attached. We'll review it and let you know if anything else is needed.
