Accounting and bookkeeping firms with multiple team members using Relay can modify the abilities (permissions) of each team member in their firm’s account.
A staff member’s permission level for their own firm's account is determined by the lead accountant or bookkeeper. To learn more about adding advisors, please see Inviting and assigning firm staff to clients.
After an advisor has set up their account, their permissions can also be edited by the lead accountant or bookkeeper in the Team tab of their Partner Portal.
Please note: an advisory staff member’s permission level for a client’s account is determined by the owner(s) of that client's business, or by the lead accountant or bookkeeper on their account. For more information on the permissions available for advisors in clients' accounts, please see Advisor permissions in client accounts.
Below is a breakdown of the two firm-level permission levels for advisor team members in Relay. These permissions control what a team member can manage in the firm’s Partner Portal. Access within each client account is assigned separately and may use a standard or custom client role.
Administrator
Administrators can manage the firm’s Partner Portal. This includes adding and removing clients, inviting and removing staff members, editing firm information, and assigning staff members to client accounts.
When adding a client or editing a staff member’s access, Administrators can select from Relay’s default advisor roles and any custom roles available for that client organization. Custom roles are specific to each client, so the roles available may differ between client accounts. After a role is assigned or updated, the staff member may need to refresh the relevant client page to see their updated access.
Administrators can also modify their own notification settings.
Staff
Staff can view their firm’s information and access the client accounts assigned to them. Their abilities within each client account are determined by the default or custom role assigned to them.
Because roles are specific to each client organization, a staff member may have different permissions for different client accounts. Staff cannot add or remove clients, invite or remove other staff members, edit firm information, or change firm-level permissions. Staff can modify their own notification settings.
