Overview of Relay Subscription Plans

Relay offers three subscription plans (Starter, Grow, and Scale) with different account limits, Annual Percentage Yield (APY), cash back rates, and payment fees. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan anytime from Settings > Plans and Billing.

What is included in each Relay subscription plan?

Each plan raises your account limits, APY, and cash back tier while lowering per-transaction fees on payments. The Starter Plan is $0 per month, the Grow Plan is $30 per month, and the Scale Plan is $90 per month (regularly $120).

Which Relay plan is right for you?

Choose the plan that matches how much money moves through your business and which features you rely on most:

  • Starter (free plan $0/month) is for owners who need core banking, up to 20 checking accounts, two savings accounts, and standard payment tools.

  • Grow ($30/month) is for owners running higher payment volumes who want lower same-day ACH and wire fees, batched vendor payments, custom expense categorization, and a 1.75% APY on savings.

  • Scale ($90/month (limited time discount), regularly $120) is for owners who need up to 50 checking accounts, the lowest per-transaction fees on payments, priority customer support, a 3.00% APY, and 1.50%* Relay Visa® Credit Card cash back.

What Bill Pay features are included on each plan?

Bill Pay expands as you move from Starter to Scale:

  • Starter: Bill creation, approval rules, and accounting integration.

  • Grow: Everything in Starter, plus batched vendor payments, partial payments, and custom categorization rules.

  • Scale: Everything in Grow, plus (coming soon) a bill insights dashboard, automated payment release, bulk payments, customizable CSV exports, and automated categorization.

What Expense Management features are included on each plan?

  • Starter: Daily and monthly limits, spend policies, receipt rules and attachments, and accounting integration.

  • Grow: Everything in Starter, plus custom categorization rules and split line items.

  • Scale: Everything in Grow, plus (coming soon) a spend insights dashboard, out-of-policy card requests, auto-locking cards for missing receipts, customizable CSV exports, and automated categorization.

What invoicing features are included on each plan?

  • Starter: Standard invoices and Quick Requests.

  • Grow and Scale: Recurring invoices, branded invoices, and credit card surcharging.

Do all Relay plans include accounting integrations?

Yes. Every plan includes bank feeds, receipt sync, and expense sync with your accounting software.

What partnership discounts are included?

Partnership discounts are exclusive to the Scale Plan:

  • Starter and Grow: No partnership discounts included.

  • Scale: 6 months of Xero included for new Xero accounts only, and up to $1,000 cash back on travel bookings through Engine. $1k travel credit after your first hotel booking of $2.5k or more on Engine. Only available for new Engine users.


Which plan includes priority customer support?

Priority customer support is included on the Scale Plan only. Starter and Grow customers receive standard Customer Experience support.

How do I change my Relay subscription plan?

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on desktop.

  2. Open the Settings tab.

  3. Click Plans and Billing.

  4. Choose your new plan:

    • To move to Grow, click Get Grow now.

    • To move to Scale, click Subscribe to Scale.

  5. Choose the checking account you want to use for your monthly plan payment.

  6. Click Upgrade to Grow or Upgrade to Scale to confirm the change.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my Relay plan anytime?

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from Settings > Plans and Billing. Changes take effect immediately on your Relay account.

What happens if I cancel my Relay subscription?

Your plan will not renew on your next billing cycle date. You keep your Grow or Scale benefits until the end of your current billing period, then your account moves to the Starter Plan.

What happens if I upgrade from Grow to Scale mid-cycle?

You are charged the full monthly Scale Plan fee from the day you upgrade. When your next billing cycle starts, you are reimbursed prorationally for the remaining days you had already paid on your Grow Plan subscription.

How does my Relay plan affect my savings Annual Percentage Yield?

Your Annual Percentage Yield depends on which plan you are on: Starter earns 1.11%, Grow earns 1.75%, and Scale earns 3.00%.

How does my Relay plan affect my Relay Visa® Credit Card cash back?

Your cash back rate depends on your plan: Starter earns 1.00%, Grow earns 1.25%, and Scale earns 1.50% on eligible purchases.

How does my Relay plan affect payment processing fees?

Higher-tier plans have lower per-transaction fees on same-day ACH, domestic wires, international wires, and pay-by-bank. See the comparison table earlier in this article for the exact fee on each plan.
