The Bulk Actions Toolbar is a bottom-of-screen menu in Relay Bill Pay that lets you approve, pay, edit, or update multiple bills at once from a single selection.
Who this is for
Admins running Bill Pay across every stage of the workflow
Managers who prepare and route bills for approval
Preparers uploading and editing bills before submission
Bookkeepers handling multiple bills at end of week or end of month
When does the Bulk Actions Toolbar appear?
The toolbar appears at the bottom of your screen the moment you select one or more bills from any Bill Pay tab except In Progress. It shows a running summary of what you selected and the actions available for that selection.
Which actions show up depends on your role and the tab you are in.
What bulk actions can I take?
The Bulk Actions Toolbar can trigger seven actions on the bills you select:
Approve or reject: Process multiple bills at once, based on your role and the current tab
Initiate payment: Pay selected bills together in one batch or send each separately
Mark as paid: Move bills to the Paid tab without processing a payment, useful for bills you paid outside Relay
View bills: Review and edit each selected bill in sequence
Unmark as paid: Return bills from the Paid tab to their previous status
Submit for approval: Route bills to the Needs Approval tab
Reject all imports: Available on the Needs Review tab for bills brought in from an integration
Which options appear depends on your access level and the status of the bills you selected.
How do I edit multiple bills in sequence?
Select the bills you want to edit, then choose View bills from the toolbar. Relay steps you through each bill one at a time so you can make changes without leaving the flow.
In sequence, you can:
Modify amounts, due dates, or notes on each bill
Save changes and advance to the next bill automatically
Initiate payment on the full selection when you finish
Review a summary of every change you made
How do deep linking and filters work with the toolbar?
Relay remembers your page, filters, and search when you share a link or refresh the page. Your current tab, pagination, filter settings, and search terms are stored in the URL so your team can open the same view you were looking at.
This makes it easier to hand off a batch of bills mid-review, or pick up where you left off after a refresh.
Who can use the Bulk Actions Toolbar?
The Bulk Actions Toolbar is available on every Relay plan, with the actions gated by role:
Admins: Full access to every bulk action
Managers and Preparers: View and prepare actions, scoped by their workspace permissions
If a bulk action is missing when you expect to see it, check your role in your workspace settings.
