How to Use the Relay Partner Portal

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

The Relay Partner Portal lets accountants and bookkeepers register client businesses for Relay, track applications, and manage access from one desktop dashboard.

What you need before you start

Gather these details before you register a client through the Partner Portal:

  • A Relay Partner account (join the Relay Partner Program if you're not enrolled yet)

  • The client business's legal name, EIN, formation state, and business address

  • The business owner's full legal name, date of birth, and Social Security Number

  • Beneficial owner details for anyone owning 25% or more of the business

  • Executive details (CEO, CFO, President, or similar) for nonprofits or holding company-owned businesses in place of a personal owner

The Partner Portal is desktop only. It is not available in the Relay mobile app.

How do I register a client's business through the Partner Portal?

Registering a client takes about 10 minutes when you have every required detail on hand.

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on desktop at app.relayfi.com

  2. From the Partner Portal dashboard, click Add Client in the top-right corner

  3. When asked who will complete the application, select The advisor (me) and click Next

  4. Enter the business owner's details in every required field. For nonprofits or holding company-owned businesses, provide details for the CEO, CFO, President, or similar executive

  5. Click Next to save owner information

  6. Fill out every required business information field, then click Next

  7. If the business has additional Beneficial Owners, enter their details and click Next

  8. Review and submit

After you submit, Relay emails each Beneficial Owner to verify their identity, set a password, and enable two-factor authentication. The client account cannot go live until every Beneficial Owner completes these steps.

How do I check the status of an open application?

Open applications appear on the Partner Portal dashboard with a status label and any pending actions.

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on desktop

  2. On the Partner Portal dashboard, find the application in your client list

  3. Click View next to the pending application to see its status and any outstanding requests

  4. If Relay has requested documents, click the Upload icon and attach the required file

Application reviews typically take 2-3 business days once every requested document is uploaded.

Who can access a client's Relay account after approval?

Only the business owner and any team members the owner invites can access the client's Relay account after approval.

Your Partner Portal view of the client remains based on the permissions the client granted you at invitation. If you need broader access, ask the client to update your role from their account settings.

How will the client know their account is ready?

The client receives an email at the address you provided during registration with instructions to log in and complete setup.

Can I edit an application after submitting it?

Submitted applications cannot be edited from the Partner Portal.

Contact the Customer Experience team if a submitted application needs a change.

Common issues

  • Application stuck in review. Check the dashboard for a document request. Reviews only move forward once every requested file is uploaded.

  • Beneficial Owner did not receive the verification email. Confirm the email address on file, then ask the owner to check their spam folder. Contact the Customer Experience team if the email address is wrong.

  • Wrong business owner listed after submission. You cannot edit owner details after submission from the Partner Portal. Contact the Customer Experience team to request the change.

  • Nonprofit or holding company client rejected the owner field. Enter details for the CEO, CFO, President, or similar executive in place of a personal owner.

  • Client cannot log in after approval. Confirm every Beneficial Owner has completed identity verification and two-factor authentication setup from their invitation email.
