Onboarding a client to Relay's Partner Program takes one of two paths: invite them from your Partner Portal, or share your referral link. Both attribute the client to your firm and count toward your Partner tier.
Who this is for
Accountants and bookkeepers enrolled in the Relay Partner Program
Advisors managing multiple client accounts inside a single firm view
Firms tracking referral rewards, tier progression, and Advisor Directory eligibility
How it works
Sign in to your Relay Partner Portal.
Choose an invitation path: click Add Client to send an invite from inside Relay, or copy your firm's unique referral link and share it with the client directly.
The client completes signup using your invitation or link, which attributes them to your firm.
Once the client is verified and opened as a business new to Relay, the referral counts toward your Partner Program rewards and tier.
If a client signed up on their own before you invited them, contact your Account Manager within 60 days of that signup to request attribution.
What types of businesses are eligible for Partner Program referrals?
Any business that is registered and operated in the United States qualifies as an eligible referral, provided it is new to Relay and signs up through your Partner Portal invitation or referral link. Businesses outside the U.S. cannot be referred under this program.
Can I refer my own business to my firm account?
No. Adding your own business to your firm account does not qualify for referral rewards, and it does not count toward Partner Program tier progression. Your own business is welcome on Relay, but the referral bonus is designed for new client accounts.
Can I refer another accounting firm to the Partner Program?
No. Other accounting and bookkeeping firms are not eligible referrals. Only U.S.-registered client businesses generate rewards, so partner-to-partner referrals fall outside the program.
How do I invite my clients to Relay?
You have two ways to invite a client, and both attribute the referral to your firm:
Add Client from the Partner Portal. Sign in to Relay, open your firm's Partner Portal, and click Add Client. Enter the client's details to send them a branded invitation.
Share your referral link. Copy your firm's unique referral link and send it to the client through email, text, or any channel you use with them. When they sign up through the link, the account is tied to your firm automatically.
Use whichever path fits the client relationship. Either one credits the referral to your firm as long as the client is new to Relay.
What if a client signed up on their own, without my referral?
Contact your Account Manager within 60 days of the client's signup date. If the signup is within that window and the client meets standard referral eligibility, your Account Manager can attribute the account to your firm so it counts toward your referral rewards and Partner tier. Signups outside the 60-day window generally cannot be back-credited.
If I onboard a business that already uses Relay, will I earn a referral bonus?
No. Only businesses that are new to Relay qualify for the referral bonus. You can still add an existing Relay customer to your firm account for shared visibility and workflow, but that account will not earn rewards or count toward your Partner Program tier progression.
What's included and what's not
Included in referral eligibility:
Businesses registered and operated in the United States
Businesses signing up for a Relay account for the first time
Signups attributed via Partner Portal invitation, referral link, or Account Manager attribution within 60 days
Not included in referral eligibility:
Your own business added to your firm account
Other accounting or bookkeeping firms
Businesses already using Relay before your invitation
Signups reported to your Account Manager more than 60 days after the fact
Common issues
Client accepted the invite but is not showing in your Partner Portal. Confirm the client completed the full signup, including business verification. Attribution shows up once the account is verified.
Client signed up through a personal Relay link instead of your referral. Contact your Account Manager within 60 days of the client's signup date to request attribution.
Referral is not counting toward your tier. Check that the client is a U.S.-registered business, is new to Relay, and is not your own business or another firm.
