No. Relay is a business banking platform for eligible small businesses, teams, bookkeepers, and accountants. It does not offer personal checking, personal savings, or joint personal accounts.
Who a Relay Account is built for
A Relay Account is available to eligible U.S.-registered businesses and the people who manage their money. That includes:
Small business owners and entrepreneurs running a registered business
Business teams with multiple people managing day-to-day money movement
Bookkeepers and accountants supporting business clients
Sole proprietors operating a registered business (documentation requirements apply)
If your goal is business banking under a legal entity or as a sole proprietor with business income, Relay is likely a fit.
Can I use a Relay Account for personal finances?
No. A Relay Account is designed strictly for business use, and Relay does not open accounts for personal household finances. That includes personal checking, personal savings, and joint personal accounts held by two or more individuals for non-business purposes.
What if I need a personal bank account?
Look at institutions that offer consumer banking products. Community banks, national banks, and consumer-focused fintechs offer personal checking and savings accounts. Relay's Customer Experience team cannot recommend a specific provider, but a search for personal checking or personal savings accounts in your region will surface options.
Can sole proprietors open a Relay Account?
Yes, sole proprietors may qualify if they operate a registered business and can provide the documentation Relay requires for account opening. Requirements vary by business type and ownership structure. Review the full list in Required Documents and Organization Details to Open a Relay Account by Entity Type.
