How do I apply for the Relay Visa® Credit Card?
You apply from inside your Relay business account by working through a five-step application flow that ends with Submit Application.
Review and edit your business details. Sign in to your Relay business account, open the application, and confirm the business details on file. Update anything that is out of date before continuing.
Connect an external business bank account (if needed). Connect an external business bank account so the underwriting review can see your revenue history. This step is optional if you have had your Relay account open for 90 days or more.
Select primary and backup payment accounts. Choose the primary Relay account that will be used for statement payments and pick a backup account in case the primary fails.
Confirm cardholder name(s) and shipping address. Confirm the name that will appear on each physical card and the address where the card should be mailed.
Click Submit Application. Once submitted, your application goes into review. You will receive email and in-app confirmation once a decision has been made.
How is my credit limit determined?
Your credit limit is set either from cash balances held in your Relay accounts (cash-based underwriting) or from other underwriting criteria reviewed during the application.
If your limit is cash-based, you must maintain at least $25,000 in your Relay accounts. If your balance drops below that threshold, your limit may be reduced, including to zero.
What happens after I submit my application?
After you submit, your application goes into review, and you receive email and in-app confirmation of the decision.
Applying for the Relay Visa® Credit Card does not involve a personal or business credit-score check at the point of application. For a full picture of how credit is reported once your account is open, see Credit checks and reporting.
Can I change my payment accounts after I am approved?
Yes. You can update your primary and backup payment accounts at any time after approval from inside your Relay account.
What if my application is denied?
If your application is denied, wait 3 months before reapplying.
For a walkthrough of the most common denial reasons and what you can do to strengthen a future application, see Why was my Relay Visa® Credit Card application denied?.
Common issues
Sole proprietorship on the application. Sole proprietors are not eligible for the Relay Visa® Credit Card. Update your business structure to an LLC, partnership, or corporation before applying.
Cash balance drops below $25,000 after a cash-based approval. If you were approved under cash-based underwriting, your credit limit may be reduced (potentially to zero) when your Relay balance falls under the $25,000 threshold. Top up before the review pulls.
