How to Edit Your Xero Integration in Relay

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

Manage the Relay to Xero connection from one place: Settings → Integrations. Choose which accounts sync, toggle Bank Feeds, Bill Pay, and Expense Management, and adjust field mappings.

What you need before you start

  • Administrator or Manager permissions on your Relay account

  • The Xero organization already connected in both Relay and Xero (if it isn't, connect Relay with Xero for Bill Pay first)

  • Desktop access. Xero integration settings are managed on desktop, not the Relay mobile app

Where do I find the Xero integration settings in Relay?

All Xero settings live in the unified Integrations panel on desktop. Bank Feeds, Bill Pay, and Expense Management are all managed from the same place.

  1. Sign in to Relay on desktop and go to Settings → Integrations.

  2. On the Xero tile, select Manage to open the Xero integrations panel.

Which Relay accounts sync to Xero through Bank Feeds?

You choose. Under Bank Feeds, select each Relay account you want to sync with Xero. Any account that has a linked card is included automatically.

  1. In the Xero integrations panel, open the Bank Feeds section.

  2. Check the box next to every Relay account you want to sync.

  3. Select Save changes.

How do I control Categories, Vendors, and Tax Rates between Relay and Xero?

Use the section labeled Details appearing in Relay and syncing to Xero. For each imported field, you decide whether it is required, visible in Relay, or editable by your team.

  1. Open the section for details appearing in Relay and syncing to Xero.

  2. For Categories, Vendors, and Tax Rates, set each field to required, visible, or editable based on how you want your team to work.

  3. Select Save Changes.

How do I import unpaid bills and vendors from Xero?

Toggle imports on under the Imports section. Relay will pull bill and vendor data from Xero on your behalf.

  1. In the Xero integrations panel, open the Imports section.

  2. Toggle on Automatically import unpaid bills to pull open bills from Xero into Relay.

  3. Toggle on Import vendors to pull your Xero vendor list into Relay.

When do the changes take effect?

Immediately. Select Close when you are done and Relay applies the new settings right away. No restart or manual sync needed.

Common issues

  • Bank Feeds aren't syncing after saving. Confirm the Relay account was checked in the Bank Feeds section and that the Xero organization is still connected. If the connection has dropped, reset your Xero Bank Feed.

  • Transactions aren't appearing in Xero. Bank Feeds run on Xero's schedule. If you want an immediate refresh, manually sync your Xero Bank Feed.

  • You don't see the Manage button on the Xero tile. You are likely signed in as a Member instead of Administrator or Manager. Ask an Administrator on your Relay account to grant the higher permission level, or have them make the changes.

  • A Relay account is missing from the Bank Feeds list. Newly created accounts can take a few minutes to appear. Refresh the page, or return to the Integrations panel after a short wait.

  • Categories, Vendors, or Tax Rates aren't updating in Relay. Confirm you selected Save Changes after adjusting the field. Changes aren't applied until you save.
