How to Invite Team Members and Advisors to Your Relay Account

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

Invite team members or advisors to your Relay account from the Team section on web or in the mobile app, typically a one-minute task per invite.

What you need before you start

Before you send an invite, gather:

  • The person's work email address

  • The permission level you want to assign

  • The specific checking and savings accounts they should be able to access

  • The person's mailing address, only if you plan to send them a physical Relay Visa Debit Card

What's the difference between a team member and an advisor?

Team members are people who work inside your organization. Advisors are trusted external partners who support your business, such as an accountant or bookkeeper. Team members and advisors have different permission options available, so the choice determines what the person can see and do inside your Relay account.

If the invitee has permissions that let them send payments or approve bills, they may be asked to provide a personal address as part of their setup.

How do I invite someone on the web?

You invite from the Team section on web in nine steps.

  1. Sign in to your Relay account

  2. Go to the Team section

  3. Select Invite team member (or Add)

  4. Enter the person's work email address

  5. Optionally enable Request user address if you plan to send them a physical Relay Visa Debit Card

  6. Optionally copy permissions from an existing team member

  7. Select the appropriate permission level

  8. Choose which checking or savings accounts they can access

  9. Click Invite

The recipient receives an email invitation. They must accept the invite and create their login credentials before they can access your Relay account.

How do I invite someone on the mobile app?

You invite from the Team tab in Settings on the Relay mobile app in eight steps.

  1. Sign in to the Relay mobile app

  2. Navigate to the Settings tab

  3. Tap Team

  4. Tap the plus (+) button at the top right

  5. Select Team member or Advisor

  6. Enter the person's work email address and choose a permission level

  7. Select which accounts they can access

  8. Tap Invite

The recipient receives an email invitation that expires after 4 weeks. They must accept the invite and create their login credentials before they can access your Relay account.

How do I resend or cancel a pending invite?

You can resend or cancel a pending invite from the same Team section in Relay.

  • On web: find the pending invite in the Team section, then click Resend, or click the three-dot menu and select Cancel

  • On mobile: open the Team tab in Settings, find the pending invite, then tap Resend or Cancel below the person's name

Cancelling an invite invalidates the link immediately. You can re-invite the same email address any time after cancelling.

Who can send invites in Relay?

Three roles can send invites, with different limits on what they can grant.

  • Administrators can invite team members and advisors with any permission level

  • Managers can invite team members only, and only with restricted permissions

  • Advisors with the right permissions can invite other team members and advisors

  • Super Administrator is a permission level exclusive to advisors and gives access to additional financial and integration management functions

Invite links are valid for 4 weeks from the date the invite is sent. If the invitee does not accept in that window, the link expires and you'll need to resend or start a new invite.

Common issues

  • The invitee cannot access the account yet: they need to accept the invite email and create login credentials before the account becomes visible to them

  • The invite email did not arrive: confirm you entered the correct work email address, then ask the invitee to check spam and junk filters, then resend from the Team page

  • The invite link has expired: invite links expire after 4 weeks; resend a fresh invite from the Team page

  • You want to change permissions after sending: copy permissions on setup is a starting point; you can adjust the permission level and account access after the invitee has joined

  • You need to send a physical Relay Visa Debit Card to the invitee: enable Request user address at the time of invite so the invitee is prompted for a mailing address during their setup
