Relay Capital applications start from a pre-qualified offer inside your Relay account, and you have 30 days to opt in once the offer appears in your Capital tab.
What you need before you start
A Relay business checking account to receive the funds and process repayments
A valid Social Security Number and a U.S. personal address
At least 3 months of business checking history
Annual business revenue of $30,000 or more
A personal credit score of at least 450 (600 or higher is recommended)
A business operating in a non-prohibited industry
Who is eligible for a Relay Capital offer?
Relay Capital is available to business owners in the 50 U.S. states, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Loans are originated by Lead Bank through Fundbox, so eligibility follows Fundbox and Lead Bank's underwriting rules on top of the baseline requirements in the prerequisites above.
If your business operates in a prohibited industry, you will not see an offer. See Prohibited Industries for Relay Capital for the full list.
What happens to my credit when I apply?
Opting in to review your final terms uses a soft credit check, which does not affect your credit score. A hard credit inquiry runs when you accept the terms and make your first draw. A hard credit inquiry may be conducted before funding and could impact your credit score.
How long do I have to accept an offer?
You have two 30-day windows:
30 days to opt in after pre-qualification appears in your Capital tab
30 days to draw funds after final terms are issued
If either window closes, the offer expires and you will need to wait for a new one.
How do I accept the terms and draw funds?
Follow these five steps once your offer is ready.
Open the Capital tab in Relay. Sign in to your account and open the Capital tab to see the offer.
Choose your draw amount. Select a single draw amount up to the approved maximum shown in the offer.
Review and accept the disclosures. Read the offer summary, the repayment schedule, and the state disclosures, then accept the terms. Accepting triggers the hard credit inquiry.
Select the repayment account. Pick the Relay business checking account that will receive the funds and process repayments.
Submit the draw. Submit the draw request to finalize the loan.
How soon do the funds arrive?
Funds are sent by ACH to your chosen Relay business checking account, typically within 2 business days of submitting the draw. Actual timing depends on when the payment file is received and your bank's ACH processing schedule.
Why was my application denied?
If Fundbox and Lead Bank decline the application, the lending partner sends a detailed adverse action notice by email to the address on your Relay profile. The notice explains the specific reasons and lists the credit reporting agency used, so you can review the underlying report and dispute any errors directly with the agency.
Common issues
You do not see an offer in the Capital tab. You are not currently pre-qualified. Offers are extended based on your Relay activity and Fundbox and Lead Bank underwriting rules, so keep processing revenue through your Relay checking account and check back.
Your offer expired. The 30-day opt-in window or 30-day draw window closed. Wait for a new pre-qualified offer to appear.
You cannot select a repayment account. Confirm the target Relay checking account is open, active, and in your name. Closed or archived accounts are not selectable.
The draw amount you want exceeds the maximum shown. You can only draw up to the approved maximum in a single draw. If you need more, see Refill or Reapplying for a Loan once your current loan is repaid.
You did not receive the adverse action email. Check your spam folder and confirm the email address on your Relay profile is current, then contact our Customer Experience team.
