How to Manage Your Notification Preferences in Relay

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

You control which Relay notifications you receive and how they reach you, across both the web app and mobile app.

What you need before you start

  • An active Relay account

  • Access to the Relay web app or the Relay mobile app (iOS or Android)

  • If you manage multiple businesses under one login, plan to update each business separately

How do I manage notification preferences on the web?

Notification preferences on the web cover four categories: organization updates, incoming transfers and deposits, payments and outgoing transfers, and transaction returns and cancellations. Follow these steps to update them.

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on the web.

  2. Go to the Settings tab.

  3. Click Notifications.

  4. Check or uncheck the boxes next to each notification category you want to receive.

  5. Click Save.

Your changes apply only to your own login. Other team members keep their own preferences.

How do I manage notification preferences in the Relay mobile app?

The mobile app covers the same four categories as the web plus Receipt Reminders, which are only available in the app. Follow these steps to update them.

  1. Sign in to the Relay mobile app.

  2. Tap your profile icon.

  3. Tap Settings, then Notifications.

  4. Toggle each notification category on or off.

  5. For Receipt Reminders, choose whether to receive them by push notification or SMS.

Receipt Admins receive Receipt Reminders as push notifications by default. You can switch the delivery channel to SMS at any time.

What notification types can I receive from Relay?

Relay sends five notification categories across web and mobile:

  • Organization updates: changes to your business profile, team, or account structure

  • Incoming transfers and deposits: ACH credits, wires received, check deposits, and internal transfers into your accounts

  • Payments and outgoing transfers: ACH debits, wires sent, check payments, and outgoing internal transfers

  • Transaction returns and cancellations: returned payments, canceled transfers, and reversal notices

  • Receipt Reminders: mobile only, sent to Receipt Admins to prompt receipt uploads for card transactions

Email is the default delivery channel for the first four categories. Receipt Reminders send via push notification or SMS.

What if I manage multiple businesses under one login?

You need to set notification preferences for each business separately. Switch between businesses in your Relay account, then update the notification settings inside each one. Preferences do not carry over from one business to another.

Common issues

  • Not receiving notification emails: check your spam or promotions folder, and confirm your email address on file under Settings.

  • Push notifications not arriving on mobile: confirm notifications are enabled for the Relay app in your device's system settings.

  • Receipt Reminders missing: only users with the Receipt Admin role receive them; confirm your role with an account owner.

  • Settings changed but nothing updated: make sure you tapped Save on web. The mobile app saves toggles as you flip them.

  • Team members getting different notifications: this is expected. Each login has its own preferences.
