How to Send a Quick Request in Relay

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

A Quick Request is a Relay payment link you send to a contact to collect money by card, ACH, domestic wire, or bank pull.

Before you start

  • A Relay account with the right permissions on it (see the next section for who can send).

  • The contact you want to bill, either already saved in your account or ready to add with a name and email.

  • The amount you want to collect and a due date.

  • A clear note or reference so your contact recognizes what the request is for.

Who can send a Quick Request?

Only team members with Administrator or Manager permissions, or advisors with Super Administrator permissions, can send a Quick Request. Each Quick Request link can only be paid by one contact, so if you need multiple people to pay, send a separate request to each.

How do I send a Quick Request from Relay?

Sign in to Relay, open the Invoices tab, and follow the steps below. The flow is available on the web and in the Relay mobile app.

From the web

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on desktop.

  2. Open the Invoices tab in the left navigation.

  3. Click Quick Request.

  4. Confirm your industry (first use only).

  5. Enter the customer's name and email address.

  6. Choose a default payout account.

  7. Accept the Quick Requests terms and conditions.

  8. Click Create a Quick Request.

  9. Click Review Request to open the Quick Request dashboard and share the payment link with your customer.

From the Relay mobile app

  1. Sign in to the Relay mobile app.

  2. Tap Request Money.

  3. Select an existing contact, or add a new one on the Contacts page.

  4. For a new contact, enter name, email, phone number (optional), and billing address (optional).

  5. Choose Create Contact to save the contact, or send as a one-time request.

  6. Enter the requested amount.

  7. Choose the payment methods you'll accept: card, ACH, wire, Pay by bank, or a saved card on file.

  8. Add request details: due date, notes (optional), and attachments (optional).

  9. Review, then choose Create payment link or Create and send request.

What payment methods can I accept on a Quick Request?

You can accept credit or debit cards, ACH or domestic wire, or Pay by bank (ACH Debit). All card payments include a processing fee, which is displayed in the request flow before you finalize the request. For the current fee, settlement timelines, and per-transaction limits, see Invoices and Quick Requests: Processing Fees, Settlement Timelines, and Limits.

Once the request is created, you have two ways to share it. Copy the payment link directly from the request confirmation screen and paste it into your own message, or navigate to the Invoices tab, locate and click into the pending quick request, and copy the direct link seen here.

How do I cancel a Quick Request?

Open the Quick Request from the Invoices tab and cancel it before your contact pays.

From the web

  1. Sign in to your Relay account on desktop.

  2. Navigate to the Invoices tab and locate the Quick Request.

  3. Click the three vertical dots beside the payment link.

  4. Click Cancel Request.

From the Relay mobile app

  1. Sign in to the Relay mobile app.

  2. Tap Payments.

  3. Tap Quick Requests.

  4. Open the Quick Request you want to cancel.

  5. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.

  6. Tap Cancel Request, or Mark as Paid if the contact paid outside Relay.

Are there countries where card payments are not accepted?

Yes. Card payments are not available in all countries, and if any business owner on the account is a citizen or resident of a restricted country, the organization may not be eligible to accept card payments at all. See Countries Not Eligible for Card Payments with Invoices or Quick Requests for the current list.

Common issues

  • Quick Request option greyed out or missing: confirm the signed-in user has Administrator or Manager permissions, or Super Administrator advisor permissions.

  • Card payment option unavailable: check whether your business owners' countries of citizenship or residence appear on the restricted list.

  • Contact says the link does not work after they open it: confirm the request was not already cancelled or paid; a single Quick Request link can only be paid once.

  • Contact says the amount is wrong: cancel the original request and send a new one with the corrected amount.

  • Request sent to the wrong contact: cancel it from the Invoices tab, then send a new request to the correct contact.
