This article walks you through changing the 4-digit PIN on your Relay Visa® Debit Card from either the web dashboard or the Relay mobile app.
What you need before you start
Access to your Relay account on the web or in the Relay mobile app
Your current 4-digit debit card PIN
A new 4-digit PIN that you can remember
Every physical Relay Visa® Debit Card has a 4-digit PIN that you set during card activation. Virtual cards can optionally use a PIN as well; see the note below on virtual card PINs.
How do I change my debit card PIN on the web?
You can change your PIN from the Cards tab of your Relay account in seven steps.
Sign in to your Relay account at relayfi.com.
Navigate to the Cards tab.
Select the debit card you want to update.
Click the three vertical dots in the top-right of the card details, then select Change PIN.
Enter your current 4-digit PIN, then your new 4-digit PIN.
Click Change PIN again to confirm.
Wait up to 10 minutes before using your card at a terminal or ATM.
How do I change my debit card PIN in the Relay mobile app?
The mobile flow mirrors the web flow and takes about a minute on a signed-in device.
Sign in to the Relay mobile app.
Tap the Cards tab.
Select the debit card you want to update.
Tap Change PIN.
Enter your current 4-digit PIN, then your new 4-digit PIN.
Tap Change PIN again to confirm.
Wait up to 10 minutes before using your card at a terminal or ATM.
What happens if I enter the wrong PIN too many times?
After three or more failed PIN entries, your card locks for 24 hours. You can wait for the lock to expire, or you can create a virtual card from the Cards tab for immediate use on digital purchases while the physical card is locked.
If you need urgent help before the 24-hour lock lifts, contact the Relay Customer Experience team at the link below during support hours (9 AM to 8 PM ET, Monday to Friday).
Can I set a PIN on my virtual Relay card?
Virtual cards support an optional PIN, and it is set from the same Cards tab as a physical card. Follow the same web or mobile steps above; on a virtual card, the Change PIN option lets you set a PIN if one is not already in place, or update the existing one.
Common issues
The Change PIN option is greyed out. Confirm the card is activated. Newly issued physical cards need to be activated before their PIN can be changed.
My new PIN was rejected at the ATM. Wait the full 10 minutes after saving a new PIN before trying to use it.
The card locked after three failed attempts. The 24-hour lock is automatic; create a virtual card in the meantime, or contact Customer Experience for urgent help.
I forgot my current PIN. You cannot see your existing PIN in the Relay app. See the "forgot PIN" article linked below to reset it.
I do not see the Cards tab. Your team-member role may not include card permissions. Ask an admin on your Relay account to grant access, or reach out to Customer Experience.
