Cash Insights is Relay's cash flow visibility tool. It shows your cash inflows, outflows, and net cash over time so you can spot trends, compare periods, and make faster day-to-day decisions.
Who Cash Insights is for
Cash Insights is built for anyone who needs to see how money is actually moving through the business, not just the current balance. That includes:
Owners tracking where cash moved this month against last month
Owners preparing for payroll, rent, or a large bill and checking whether the timing works
Owners running quarterly reviews and comparing performance across periods
Accountants and bookkeepers with Administrator access looking at account-level cash movement
Team members with Administrator or Super Administrator permissions on the Relay account
Team members with other permission levels do not see Cash Insights.
How does Cash Insights work?
Cash Insights pulls transaction data from your Relay checking and savings accounts and reports three core metrics for the time period you select:
Cash inflows are the total money entering your accounts over the period.
Cash outflows are the total money leaving your accounts over the period.
Net cash is the difference between your inflows and outflows for the selected period.
From there you can switch between a summary view across all accounts and an account-by-account breakdown, filter to a specific account, drill into the underlying transactions, and toggle internal transfers on or off.
What is included and what is not
Included:
Cash inflows and outflows from your Relay checking and savings accounts
Historical trends across any time period you choose
Summary and per-account views
Internal-transfer toggle (include or exclude transfers between your own Relay accounts)
Drill-down to the underlying individual transactions
Not included:
Relay Visa® Credit Card transactions
Forecasted cash (Cash Insights reports what has already happened, not what is projected)
How do I access Cash Insights?
Cash Insights is available to team members with Administrator or Super Administrator permissions on your Relay account. If you have another permission level, ask an Administrator on your account to grant you access or share the view with you.
How is Cash Insights different from Cash Flow Summary?
Cash Insights is the updated version of Cash Flow Summary. It uses the same three core metrics (cash inflows, cash outflows, and net cash) and adds account-level filtering, period-over-period comparison, and the ability to drill into the underlying transactions.
When should I use Cash Insights?
Three common patterns:
Day-to-day cash decisions. Before running payroll or paying a large bill, open Cash Insights to see how much cash actually moved through your accounts recently and whether the pattern supports the outflow.
Period-over-period comparison. Compare this quarter's inflows against last quarter to see whether revenue is growing, flat, or falling. Compare this month's outflows against the same month last year to catch expense creep.
Investigating a change. If a balance looks off, use Cash Insights to check whether inflows dropped, outflows spiked, or both, then drill into the underlying transactions to find the specific movements behind the change.
