Settlement times at Relay depend on the transaction type: internal transfers process immediately, ACH takes 1–3 business days, and wires range from same-day to 7 business days.
Most transactions use business days for processing; bank holidays may delay settlement.
When do internal Relay transfers settle?
Internal transfers settle immediately and are available to spend as soon as they clear. This covers moves between your own Relay checking and savings accounts, as well as transfers between two Relay business accounts you own.
How long does an incoming ACH take?
Incoming ACH funds are available in your Relay Account as soon as the ACH is received. Exact timing depends on when the sender's bank submits the payment file, so check with the sender for their end of the timeline.
If an incoming ACH hasn't arrived when you expected it, contact Relay support with:
The 15-digit ACH Trace ID
The transaction amount
The date the payment was sent
The last four digits of the receiving Relay account
How long does it take to add funds from a linked external bank account?
ACH pulls from a linked external U.S. bank account take 1–3 business days, and in some cases up to 5 business days. The same window applies to outbound ACH transfers from your Relay Account to a linked external account.
How long does an outgoing ACH take?
Outgoing ACH transfers settle in 1–2 business days when submitted before 10:30 pm EST. ACHs submitted after that cutoff begin processing on the next business day and follow the same 1–2 business day window from that point.
The Trace ID for each outgoing ACH appears in the transaction details in your Relay Account.
How long does a same-day ACH take?
Same-day ACH transfers arrive in the recipient's account by the end of the same business day when submitted before 4:15 pm EST. Same-day ACHs sent after 4:15 pm EST arrive by the end of the next business day.
How long does an incoming domestic wire take?
Incoming domestic wires arrive in your Relay Account the same day the sending bank releases them, typically by the end of the business day. Some domestic wires can arrive after standard business hours, so allow until end of calendar day before treating a wire as delayed.
Because the sender's bank controls when the wire is released, confirm timing with them first.
If a domestic wire hasn't arrived by end of day, contact Relay support with:
The IMAD or OMAD reference number
The wire amount
The date the wire was sent
The last four digits of the receiving Relay account
How long does an outgoing domestic wire take?
Outgoing domestic wires arrive at the recipient's bank the same business day when submitted before 5:40 pm EST. Wires are sent out every hour up to that cutoff. Wires submitted after 5:40 pm EST process on the next business day.
The IMAD or OMAD reference number for each outgoing wire appears in the transaction details.
How long does an incoming international wire take?
Incoming international wires are available in your Relay Account as soon as they are received. Total transit time depends on the sending bank and any intermediary banks involved, and can vary by country.
If an incoming international wire hasn't arrived within the window the sender quoted, contact Relay support with:
The MT103 or PACS008 reference number
The wire amount
The date the wire was sent
The last four digits of the receiving Relay account
How long does an outgoing SWIFT international wire take?
SWIFT international wires typically leave Relay within 2–3 business days and arrive in the recipient's account 5–7 business days after that. Total transit time depends on intermediary banks and the receiving country's clearing system.
How long does an outgoing Local Network international wire take?
Local Network international wires typically leave Relay within 0–3 business days. Arrival time depends on the destination country's local clearing network and the receiving bank.
How long does a check deposit take to clear?
Mobile check deposits take up to 7 business days to clear. Processing starts the same business day if the deposit is submitted before 3 pm EST. Deposits submitted after 3 pm EST begin processing the next business day.
How long does a mailed check payment take to arrive?
Outgoing check payments sent through Relay's check-mailing service take 8–10 business days to reach the recipient's mailing address once mailed out. This window covers printing, mailing, and USPS delivery.
What happens on bank holidays and weekends?
Most transaction types process on business days only, so weekends and federal bank holidays extend the timeline by one or more days. Check the Federal Reserve holiday schedule and Relay's holidays and bank closures article when a transaction seems delayed.
What if a transaction is delayed?
Confirm the cutoff time for your transaction type and check the date against Relay's holidays schedule before reaching out. If the delay is beyond the expected window, contact Relay support with the reference number for that transaction (Trace ID for ACH, IMAD or OMAD for domestic wires, MT103 or PACS008 for international wires), the amount, and the send date.
