The recipient's currency, country, and bank details
A payment initiated during the currency conversion window: Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM ET
When can I convert currency in Relay?
Currency conversion is available Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM ET. Outside those hours, you can still send international wires in USD, but non-USD conversions are paused until the next weekday currency conversion window opens.
How do I convert currency for an international wire?
Sign in to Relay on desktop.
Open the Payments tab.
Select Send International Payment, then choose Local Network (Local Rails) or Swift Network (SWIFT).
Use the currency dropdown to select the recipient's currency.
Complete the remaining payment fields and finalize the payment.
How does the exchange rate work?
Relay refreshes exchange rates every 60 seconds based on live market conditions. The rate shown in your payment flow is the rate that applies at the moment you finalize the wire.
What fees apply to currency conversion?
A currency conversion fee applies to non-USD international wires, as low as 1% depending on the currency and corridor.
What are common issues with currency conversion?
The currency dropdown is empty or greyed out. Check the time. Non-USD conversion is available Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM ET only.
I cannot find the option in the mobile app. International wires with currency conversion must be initiated from desktop.
The recipient's currency is not listed. Confirm the currency is supported. To learn what currencies are available to convert, please see Currencies available in Relay.
The exchange rate changed between starting the form and submitting. Rates refresh every 60 seconds.
I do not see the payee. Add the international payee first, then return to start the payment.
