How to Send a Same-Day ACH Payment on Relay

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

Send a same-day ACH from your Relay Account in under two minutes on web or mobile, as long as you submit before 4:15pm ET on a business day.

What you need before you start

  • An active Relay checking account with enough available balance to cover the payment and the same-day ACH fee

  • The payee added to your Relay Account, with routing number and account number confirmed

  • Your Relay subscription plan noted, since same-day ACH pricing varies by plan

  • The payment submitted before 4:15pm ET on a business day for same-day arrival

  • SMS verification available on your mobile phone, since Relay may request a code to authorize the payment

What is the same-day ACH cutoff on Relay?

Same-day ACH payments submitted before 4:15pm ET on a business day arrive the same day. Payments submitted after 4:15pm ET, on weekends, or on federal holidays arrive by the end of the next business day.

How much does a same-day ACH cost on Relay?

Same-day ACH fees depend on your Relay subscription plan:

  • Starter Plan: $5 per same-day ACH

  • Grow Plan: $3 per same-day ACH

  • Scale Plan: 10 same-day ACH transfers included each month, then $1 per transfer

Standard next-business-day ACH transfers are included at no per-transaction charge on every plan.

Is there a limit on how many same-day ACH payments I can send?

There is no monthly cap on the number of same-day ACH payments you can send. Each Relay Account has daily and monthly dollar limits on ACH transfers, which you can view inside the app.

Can I send a same-day ACH to a bank outside the United States?

No. ACH runs on the US banking network and only reaches accounts at US banks. To pay a recipient outside the US, send an international wire instead.

Can I upload a bill and pay it as a same-day ACH?

Yes. From the Send an ACH window, upload the bill and Relay auto-extracts the vendor name, invoice number, line items, amount, and dates. Review the extracted fields, add accounting categorization, and complete the payment as a same-day ACH.

Common issues

  • Payment scheduled for the next business day instead of today. You submitted after the 4:15pm ET cutoff, on a weekend, or on a federal holiday. Reschedule before 4:15pm ET on the next business day.

  • Payment blocked at approval. The transfer may exceed your daily or monthly ACH limit. Check your limits in the app and request a transaction limit increase if you need to move more.

  • SMS verification code not arriving. Confirm the mobile phone number on file is correct and troubleshoot SMS delivery before retrying the payment.

  • Payee details rejected. Re-check the routing and account numbers against the payee's most recent invoice or a bank verification letter.

  • Same-Day ACH option not visible. Confirm you are paying a US bank account. International recipients require a wire, not an ACH.
