Send a domestic wire from your Relay checking account on web or mobile, and the recipient's bank typically receives payment within one business day.
What you need before you start
An active Relay checking account with sufficient available balance
The payee already added to your Relay Account (recipient name, bank name, ABA routing number, account number)
A valid physical street address for the recipient (PO Boxes are not accepted for domestic wires)
Access to the phone number tied to your Relay login, in case SMS verification is prompted
How do I send a domestic wire on the Relay web app?
Sending a domestic wire on the web is a 12-step flow that lands your wire in the next hourly submission batch.
Sign in to your Relay Account at app.relayfi.com.
Click the Payments tab in the left navigation.
Select Send a Wire.
Choose an existing payee, or click Add a new payee and enter their details.
Select the checking account you want to send the wire from.
Enter the wire amount.
Click Next step.
Choose whether to send the wire now or schedule it for a future date.
Enter a memo (optional, but recommended for the recipient's reference).
Click Next step.
Review every field for accuracy, especially the recipient's name, address, and account details.
Click Pay to submit the wire.
Relay customers can also navigate to their recent payment activity from the Payments dashboard and select “New Payment” from a previously sent transaction. This will start a new payment to the same payee associated with that transaction.
How do I send a domestic wire on the Relay mobile app?
The mobile flow takes 9 steps and mirrors the web experience.
Sign in to the Relay mobile app.
Tap the Payments tab.
Tap Send Payment.
Select the recipient from your payee list.
Enter the amount.
Select the source checking account.
Choose Domestic Wire as the payment method.
Customize the memo (optional).
Tap Pay to submit.
When will the recipient get the money?
The recipient's bank typically receives the wire within one business day of submission.
Wires are submitted in hourly batches from 9:00am to 5:00pm EST, with a final batch at 5:40pm EST. Wires submitted after 5:40pm EST enter the next business day's first batch.
How much does a domestic wire cost?
The fee for a single outbound domestic wire depends on your Relay subscription plan:
Starter Plan: $8 per wire
Grow Plan: $5 per wire
Scale Plan: $5 per wire
The fee is debited from the source checking account when you submit the wire.
Can I pay a bill by domestic wire using Bill Pay?
Yes. Upload the bill to Bill Pay and select Domestic Wire as the payment method during checkout.
Open Bill Pay in your Relay Account.
Upload the bill (PDF or image). Relay auto-extracts the vendor name, invoice number, line items, and due date.
Confirm the extracted details.
Match the payee to an existing profile, or add a new one.
Choose Domestic Wire as the payment method.
Review the wire and submit.
Why does Relay ask for an SMS verification code?
SMS verification is an added security check on higher-value or higher-risk payment actions.
If prompted, enter the six-digit code sent to the phone number on file with your Relay Account. If the code does not arrive within about a minute, request a new one from the verification prompt.
Common issues
Wire returned for address mismatch. The beneficiary address on the wire must exactly match the address on file with the recipient's bank. Confirm the address with the recipient and re-submit.
Wire submitted after 5:40pm EST didn't go out today. Wires submitted after the 5:40pm EST cutoff enter the next business day's first batch. Check the next-day timeline before contacting support.
PO Box was rejected. Domestic wires require a physical street address for the recipient. Ask the recipient for their street address, update the payee record, and re-submit.
SMS verification code didn't arrive. Confirm the phone number on file, check for carrier delivery delays, and request a new code from the prompt.
Not enough available balance. Check the source checking account's available balance (not just the posted balance). Move money between checking accounts inside your Relay Account if needed, then re-submit.
