To receive an ACH payment into your Relay Account, share your account number, routing number, and the account holder name on file with the sender. Most incoming ACH transfers settle within 1 to 3 business days.
What you need before you start
The Relay Account you want to receive the payment into
The exact legal name on your Relay Account (your business name, a beneficial owner's name, or a Doing Business As name on file with Relay)
A way to share your account number and routing number with the sender (email, secure message, or the sender's payment portal)
If the sender is a payer that requires the receiving bank's name and address, you will also need Thread Bank's details, which live inside the Relay app under Receive money.
Which name should the sender use?
The sender must send the ACH to a name that matches your Relay Account records. That means one of three:
Your business's legal name
The name of a beneficial owner listed on the account
A Doing Business As (DBA) name on file with Relay
Payments sent to a name that does not match one of these can be returned by Thread Bank, Member FDIC. If you receive payments under a trade name that is not yet on file, add it before sharing your account details. See How to add a DBA name to your Relay account.
How do I find my account and routing number on the web?
Your account and routing numbers live inside the account's Details view.
Sign in to your Relay account at app.relayfi.com
Open the Accounts tab
Select the checking or savings account you want to receive the payment into
Click Details
Under About, find the account and routing number; click the eye icon to reveal the full account number
Click the double-square icon to copy the number
Share the account number and routing number with the sender
How do I find my account and routing number in the mobile app?
The mobile app has a dedicated share flow that packages the details together.
Sign in to the Relay mobile app
Open the Accounts tab
Select the checking or savings account you want to receive the payment into
Tap Share account info
Send the details to the sender through your preferred channel
Where do I find Thread Bank's name and address?
Some senders (especially payroll providers, government payers, and larger vendors) will ask for the receiving bank's name and address in addition to your account and routing number.
Sign in to your Relay account on web or mobile
Open the Accounts tab and select the account
Click Receive money, then Domestic wires
Copy the Thread Bank name and address shown
The bank details are the same for both wires and ACH; the wires screen just happens to be where they are surfaced.
How long does an incoming ACH take to arrive?
Incoming ACH payments typically settle within 1 to 3 business days from the date the sender submits the payment. Same-day ACH can arrive on the same business day if the sender uses same-day ACH and initiates it before the daily cutoff.
Weekends and federal banking holidays do not count as business days. For a full breakdown, see Transaction settlement and processing timelines.
Are there limits or fees on incoming ACH?
There are no limits on incoming ACH transactions into a Relay Account, and there is no additional charge for receiving an ACH payment. Outgoing ACH transfers have their own daily and monthly limits by plan; see Viewing your account limits for the outgoing side.
Common issues
The sender says the account or routing number is invalid. Double-check that you copied the full account number (click the eye icon first to reveal it) and that the sender is entering a checking or savings ACH, not a wire.
The payment did not arrive after 3 business days. Confirm with the sender that the payment was sent to the correct account holder name. Payments to a name that does not match your Relay Account records can be returned by Thread Bank.
