What documents does Relay accept as proof of a legal name change?
Relay accepts legal documentation that officially records the name change, such as a marriage license. If you're unsure whether your document qualifies, contact the Customer Experience team before submitting to confirm.
How long does the update take?
Processing depends on document review and verification, and most updates complete within a few business days of submission. The Customer Experience team confirms once your account reflects the new legal name.
Common issues
Document not accepted. If Relay cannot verify the name change from your document, the Customer Experience team follows up requesting additional proof. Reply with a clearer copy or an alternate legal document that records the same change.
The names don't match. If the new legal name on your document doesn't exactly match the new name you included in your request, resubmit with the exact spelling and formatting from the document.
The update doesn't appear on your account. Sign out and sign back in to refresh your account information after the team confirms the change. If it still doesn't show, reply to the Customer Experience team's confirmation message.
