Why Relay Needs You to Confirm Your Business Details

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

Relay periodically asks customers to reconfirm business details to meet regulatory requirements from Thread Bank, Member FDIC. Accounts that do not confirm by August 31, 2026, will freeze.

Who this is for

You need to confirm your business details if:

  • You received an in-app or email prompt from Relay asking you to review your information

  • Your Relay account was opened before Thread Bank's current information requirements took effect

  • You are a beneficial owner listed on the account

Only one beneficial owner needs to complete the confirmation if your business has multiple owners.

What information do I need to confirm?

You will confirm eight pieces of information about your business:

  • Industry

  • Business description

  • Primary purpose of the account

  • Source of funds

  • Expected monthly transaction volume

  • U.S. Nexus (your business's connection to the United States)

  • Countries of operation

  • Whether your business is subject to regulation

Have this information ready before you start. Most owners complete the confirmation in under five minutes.

When do I need to confirm my business details?

You have until August 31, 2026, to confirm your business details. Accounts that have not been confirmed by that date will freeze, and outgoing transactions, transfers, and card activity will stop.

If you still have not confirmed by September 15, 2026, Relay will close the account and send any remaining balance by check to the mailing address on file.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

Your account will freeze on August 31, 2026, if the confirmation has not been submitted. During the freeze:

  • Outgoing payments, transfers, and card purchases will not process

  • Incoming ACH and wire payments may be returned

  • You will still be able to sign in and complete the confirmation to restore access

Between August 31 and September 15, 2026, you can restore your account by completing the confirmation from inside your Relay account. After September 15, the account is closed and remaining funds are mailed by check.

How do I confirm my business details?

Confirming your business details takes a few minutes from inside your Relay account.

  1. Sign in to your Relay account at relayfi.com or in the Relay mobile app

  2. Select the confirmation prompt shown on the home screen

  3. Review each field and update any information that has changed

  4. Submit the confirmation

You will see a confirmation message once your submission is received. Relay will follow up by email if any details need clarification.

Who has to complete the confirmation?

Only one beneficial owner needs to complete the confirmation, even if the business has multiple owners on file. The person who completes it must be listed as a beneficial owner on the Relay account.

If you are a team member or advisor without beneficial-owner permissions, you will not see the prompt. Ask a beneficial owner to sign in and complete the review.

How do I know the request is really from Relay?

Legitimate confirmation prompts appear inside your Relay account after you sign in. Relay will never ask you to share your password, and the confirmation flow does not require you to click a link in an email or text to enter credentials.

If you received an email or text asking you to confirm business details, sign in directly through relayfi.com or the Relay mobile app to check for the prompt. Do not click links in unexpected messages.

What if my account has already been closed?

If your account was closed for missing the confirmation deadline, contact Relay's Customer Experience team. They can confirm the status of your remaining funds and walk you through next steps.
