How to Download a Bank Verification Letter, Voided Check, or Direct Deposit Form

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

A Relay bank verification letter confirms your account and routing numbers, and it can stand in for a voided check or direct deposit form.

What you need before you start

  • A Relay account with at least one checking or savings account open

  • Desktop access (letters cannot be downloaded from the Relay mobile app)

  • Administrator permissions on the account, or, if you are an advisor, Super Administrator / Administrator / Manager permissions

What is a bank verification letter?

A bank verification letter is a signed PDF that verifies your Relay account details for payroll providers, payment processors, vendors, and other external parties. It can replace a voided check, a direct deposit form, or a bank signature card in most vendor onboarding flows.

How do I download my bank verification letter?

Downloading takes about two minutes on desktop. Follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Relay account at app.relayfi.com.

  2. Go to the Accounts tab in the left-hand menu.

  3. Click the checking or savings account you want the letter for.

  4. Click the three vertical dots next to the Add money button.

  5. Select Request Bank Verification Letter.

  6. The PDF saves to your device's Downloads folder.

Repeat the steps for each account if your payee needs details for more than one account.

What information is on the letter?

Every Relay bank verification letter includes:

  • The date you downloaded the letter

  • Your legal business name and business address on file

  • The account number and routing number for the selected account

  • The account type (checking or savings)

  • The date the account was opened

  • A banker signature

  • Relay letterhead with Thread Bank contact information

If any of these details look wrong on the PDF, update the underlying record in Relay before sharing the letter with your payee.

What if my payee needs details not on the default letter?

Contact the Customer Experience team and describe what your payee needs. If a payroll provider, vendor, or payment processor requires additional information (for example, a specific reference number or wording), Customer Experience can generate a custom letter and email it to you.

Who on my team can download the letter?

Only team members with Administrator permissions can download a bank verification letter for accounts they have access to. Advisors can download letters if they hold Super Administrator, Administrator, or Manager permissions on the client account.

If you need to download a letter and don't see the option, ask an Administrator on the account to update your permissions or to download the letter for you.

Common issues

  • I don't see the Request Bank Verification Letter option. You are likely signed in on the mobile app or you don't have Administrator permissions. Switch to desktop or ask an Administrator to give you access.

  • The business name on the letter is out of date. Update your legal business name in Relay first, then re-download the letter.

  • The address on the letter is wrong. Update your business and billing address in Relay, then re-download.

  • My payee will not accept the letter. Reach out to Customer Experience so we can send a customized letter with the exact wording your payee needs.

  • The download did not appear on my device. Check your browser's Downloads folder and confirm pop-ups or downloads are not blocked for app.relayfi.com.
