How to Pay Your Relay Visa® Credit Card Balance

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

You can pay your Relay Visa® Credit Card balance from any Relay checking account or a linked external account, either automatically at billing cycle end or on demand.

What you need before you start

  • An active Relay Visa® Credit Card

  • At least one Relay checking account, or a linked external bank account, to pay from

  • Sign-in access to Relay on web or the Relay mobile app

How does the Relay Visa® Credit Card billing cycle work?

Your Relay Visa® Credit Card runs on a 30-day billing cycle, and your full statement balance is due at the end of each cycle. You can pay early at any point during the cycle from a Relay checking account or a linked external account.

Payment timing depends on where the money comes from:

  • Payments from a Relay checking account typically apply the same business day

  • Payments from a linked external account can take up to three business days to settle

How does auto-payment work at the end of my billing cycle?

At the end of every billing cycle, Relay automatically pulls your full statement balance from your primary payment account. If that account doesn't have enough available balance to cover the full amount, Relay pulls the shortfall from your backup payment account. You can change either account at any time from your Relay Visa® Credit Card settings.

How do I set up mid-cycle auto-payments?

Mid-cycle auto-payments trigger a payment as soon as your card utilization reaches a percentage you set. For example, a 50% threshold on a $10,000 credit limit triggers an auto-payment once spending reaches $5,000.

To turn on mid-cycle auto-payments:

  1. Sign in to Relay on web or the Relay mobile app

  2. Go to Accounts and select your Relay Visa® Credit Card account

  3. Click Manage auto-pay

  4. Toggle Mid-cycle payments on

  5. Enter the utilization threshold as a percentage

  6. Save your changes

How do I make a manual credit card payment on the web app?

Manual payments let you pay any amount, on any day of the billing cycle, from any Relay checking account or linked external account. On the web:

  1. Sign in to your Relay account

  2. Go to Accounts and select your Relay Visa® Credit Card account

  3. Click Make payment

  4. Choose the account to pay from

  5. Enter the payment amount

  6. Review the details and click Confirm

How do I make a manual credit card payment on the mobile app?

The mobile flow mirrors the web flow, with one extra tap to open the credit account. On the Relay mobile app:

  1. Sign in to your Relay account

  2. Tap Accounts and select your Relay Visa® Credit Card account

  3. Tap Make payment

  4. Choose the account to pay from

  5. Enter the payment amount

  6. Review the details and tap Confirm

When do payments apply to my available credit?

Payments from a Relay checking account typically apply to your available credit the same business day. Payments from a linked external account can take up to three business days to settle before your available credit reflects the payment.

Common issues

  • Auto-payment failed at the end of the cycle: check that both your primary and backup accounts have enough available balance, then follow the steps in What to do if your Relay Visa® Credit Card auto-payment fails

  • Available credit hasn't updated after paying from an external account: allow up to three business days for the payment to settle

  • The Make payment button isn't visible: confirm you're viewing your Relay Visa® Credit Card account, not a checking or savings account

  • You want to change which account pays automatically: update your primary or backup account by following Changing your primary or backup payment account

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use my primary or backup account for early payments?

No. Early payments can come from any Relay checking account or any linked external account. Only end-of-cycle auto-payments pull from your primary payment account, with the backup account as a fallback.

How quickly do payments apply to my available credit?

Payments from a Relay checking account typically apply the same business day. Payments from a linked external account can take up to three business days to settle.

Does paying my Relay Visa® Credit Card balance on time help build business credit?

Paying on time or early is one of the factors that helps build your business credit history. See Credit checks and reporting for details on how Relay Visa® Credit Card activity is reported.

What happens if my auto-payment fails?

Relay attempts to pull the shortfall from your backup payment account first. If both accounts fail, the payment is marked as failed and late payment fees may apply. See What to do if your Relay Visa® Credit Card auto-payment fails for next steps.
