You can connect your Relay Visa® Credit Card to QuickBooks Online in about three minutes to sync settled transactions into your books automatically.
What you need before you start
An active Relay account with a Relay Visa® Credit Card (available to customers who meet the eligibility check)
A QuickBooks Online account on any subscription tier
Your Relay login credentials
How do I connect my Relay Visa® Credit Card to QuickBooks Online?
Sign in to QuickBooks, open the Bank accounts box on the Dashboard, search for Relay, and authorize the connection with your Relay login.
Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
On the Dashboard, find the Bank accounts box and click Connect accounts.
Search for Relay and select it from the results.
Enter your Relay login credentials to authorize the connection.
Choose which accounts to sync. All your Relay accounts are selected by default; deselect any you do not want in QuickBooks.
Confirm the credit account. Your Relay Visa® Credit Card appears with 0000 as the last four digits, because credit accounts do not have a standard account number.
Click Continue. QuickBooks pulls in your settled transactions and creates a bank feed for the credit card.
Why does my credit account show 0000 as the last four digits?
The credit account itself does not have a standard account number, so QuickBooks displays 0000 for the last four digits. This is expected behaviour and does not affect the sync. Individual Relay Visa® Credit Cards issued on the account still have their own card numbers; the 0000 refers to the parent account, not any card.
Which transactions sync from Relay to QuickBooks?
Only settled transactions sync to QuickBooks. Pending authorizations, merchant pre-authorization holds, and unposted transactions stay in Relay until they clear. A purchase typically takes 1 to 3 business days to move from pending to settled and appear in QuickBooks.
Do account nicknames sync between Relay and QuickBooks?
No. Account nicknames are managed independently in each platform. If you rename your Relay Visa® Credit Card in Relay, the nickname in QuickBooks does not update, and the reverse is also true. To keep names consistent, update the nickname in both places.
Can I connect the Relay Visa® Credit Card to QuickBooks Desktop?
Not directly through this flow. The steps above cover QuickBooks Online. For QuickBooks Desktop, export your Relay Visa® Credit Card statements from Relay and import them into QuickBooks Desktop as PDFs or through your accountant's preferred workflow.
Common issues
The credit account is not showing up in the connect list. Confirm your Relay Visa® Credit Card is active in Relay. Cards that are frozen, terminated, or still awaiting activation do not appear as connectable accounts.
Recent transactions are missing from the QuickBooks feed. QuickBooks only pulls settled transactions. Recent purchases typically take 1 to 3 business days to appear after the merchant settles.
You renamed the account but the change is not showing up. Nicknames sync independently. Rename the account in both Relay and QuickBooks to keep them in sync.
You entered the wrong Relay login. Return to Connect accounts in QuickBooks and re-authorize with your correct Relay credentials.
The connection worked, but the credit card feed stopped updating. Refresh the bank feed inside QuickBooks. If refreshes keep failing, disconnect and reconnect the Relay account using the same steps above.
