What Happens if You Pay Your Relay Visa® Credit Card Late?

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

Your Relay Visa® Credit Card charges a 3% monthly late fee and locks your card if your balance isn't paid in full within the 5-day grace period.

When does a late payment fee apply?

A late fee applies when your Relay Visa® Credit Card balance isn't paid in full within five days of the billing cycle end. Relay automatically withdraws the balance from your primary payment account each cycle. If that withdrawal cannot process the full amount, a 5-day grace period begins, during which you can settle the remaining balance with no additional charge.

How much is the late payment fee?

The late fee is 3% of your unpaid balance, applied monthly until the balance is paid in full. The fee is added to your next billing cycle balance and must be paid alongside the outstanding amount.

What happens to your credit account when a payment is late?

Your credit account is locked if the balance isn't fully paid within the 5-day grace period. While locked:

  • Card transactions decline at the point of sale

  • Cash back rewards are withheld from deposit until your balance reaches zero

  • The 3% monthly late fee continues to accrue on the unpaid balance

Your account unlocks and returns to normal use once you pay the full outstanding balance.

Does a late Relay Visa® Credit Card payment affect your credit score?

Late payments do not affect your personal credit score. Relay may report late payments to commercial credit bureaus, which can affect your business credit profile.

What payment options are available during the grace period?

Only full payments are accepted during or after the grace period. Partial payments cannot be applied to a past-due balance. Payment timing depends on the source:

  • From a Relay checking account: payments settle automatically on the same business day

  • From an external bank account: payments take up to three business days to settle

Plan external payments early enough to clear before the grace period ends.

How to avoid late payment fees on your Relay Visa® Credit Card

  • Keep your primary payment account funded with at least the full outstanding balance before the auto-withdrawal date

  • Set up a backup payment account so a failed withdrawal on the primary account doesn't leave the balance unpaid

  • Monitor upcoming statements in the Relay app so you know the exact amount and date of the next auto-withdrawal
