How to Export an Invoice as a PDF in Relay

UpdatedAugust 11, 2026

You can export any Relay invoice as a PDF from the Invoices dashboard, then send it through your own email, print it, or keep a copy for your records.

What you need before you start

  • An active Relay account with access to Invoices

  • Your client's contact details and the line items you want to bill

  • Your business logo uploaded in Invoice Settings, if you want it to appear on the PDF

  • A device with enough storage to save the downloaded file

When should I export an invoice as a PDF?

Export an invoice as a PDF when you want a downloadable file you can share or archive outside Relay. Common cases:

  • You want to send the invoice through your own email or invoicing system

  • Your client prefers a downloadable file

  • You need a copy for recordkeeping or offline use

  • You're not yet ready to request payment through Relay

How do I export an invoice as a PDF?

Export a Relay invoice as a PDF in six steps from the Invoices dashboard.

  1. Sign in to your Relay account.

  2. Go to Invoices to open the Invoices dashboard.

  3. Select Create an Invoice and fill in all required details.

  4. Under Delivery Method, select Share Invoice.

  5. Once you complete the remaining steps, select Download next to the PDF field.

  6. Save the file to your device and send it however you prefer.

What's included in the PDF?

The PDF contains the same information your client would see if the invoice were sent directly through Relay.

  • Your business name (or DBA) and logo, if uploaded

  • Your contact information and the invoice number

  • Line items, taxes, discounts, and the total amount

  • The due date and any memo you added

What are the common issues when exporting an invoice as a PDF?

Most PDF export questions fall into one of four buckets.

  • The Download button isn't visible — confirm you selected Share Invoice as the Delivery Method; the download option only appears in that flow.

  • The logo is missing from the PDF — upload your business logo in Invoice Settings, then create or re-open the invoice so the logo pulls through.

  • Line items, taxes, or totals look wrong — return to the invoice, confirm every required field is filled, and re-download after saving.

  • You already sent the invoice as a payment request and now need a PDF — open the invoice from the Invoices dashboard and use the download option there to save a copy.
