Your preferred primary and secondary brand colors
Where do I find invoice branding settings in Relay?
Invoice branding lives under Invoices, Settings, then the General tab, in the Branding section.
Sign in to your Relay account.
Open Invoices from the main navigation.
Click Settings.
Select the General tab.
Scroll to the Branding section.
What invoice elements can I customize?
You can customize six elements on a Relay invoice:
Business name or DBA — displayed at the top of every invoice
Company logo — placed in the invoice corner with cropping controls
Contact information — address, phone, email, and social links shown in the footer
Brand colors — a primary and a secondary color to match your identity
Template — choose between Classic or Bold layouts
Background style — choose between solid or gradient
How do I upload and crop my company logo?
Upload a JPG, PNG, HEIC, or GIF file up to 5 MB, then use the built-in crop tool to fit the logo into the invoice corner.
In the Branding section, click Upload logo.
Select a JPG, PNG, HEIC, or GIF file no larger than 5 MB.
Use the crop handles to frame the logo the way you want it displayed.
Save your changes.
For best results, use a high-contrast square logo so it stays legible in the invoice corner.
How do I choose a template and background style?
Relay offers two invoice templates, Classic and Bold, and two background styles, solid and gradient.
In the Branding section, open the Template selector.
Choose Classic for a clean, minimal layout or Bold for a more graphic layout.
Under Background style, choose Solid for a single color or Gradient for a blended color background.
How do I set my brand colors?
Pick a primary color and a secondary color that match your business identity.
In the Branding section, click the Primary color picker and choose or enter a hex code.
Click the Secondary color picker and repeat.
Save. The colors will apply to headings, accents, and the background style you selected.
How do I add contact information to the invoice footer?
Enter the address, phone, email, and social links you want shown in the footer.
Scroll to the Contact information fields in the Branding section.
Enter your business address, phone number, and email.
Add social links (website, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) as needed.
Save. These details will appear in the footer of every new invoice.
Keep this information current so customers can reach you if they have a question about the invoice.
How do I preview the branding on a PDF and payment page?
Relay shows a live preview while you edit, with a toggle between the PDF invoice view and the customer-facing payment page view.
Open the Preview panel in the invoice branding editor.
Toggle between the PDF view and the Payment page view.
Adjust any element that looks off in either view before saving.
Do branding changes apply to invoices I've already sent?
No. Branding changes apply prospectively only, so invoices you've already sent keep their original formatting. Any invoice you create or edit after saving new branding will reflect the update.
Common issues
Logo looks blurry or stretched — upload a higher-resolution square file and re-crop.
File upload fails — check the file type (JPG, PNG, HEIC, or GIF) and confirm it's under 5 MB.
Colors look different on the payment page than the PDF — toggle between the two preview views and adjust the primary or secondary color for contrast.
Contact info isn't showing on new invoices — confirm the fields are saved in the Branding section, not just filled in.
Old invoices still show the old branding — this is expected. Branding changes only apply to invoices created or edited after saving.
